HOW TO - Re-skirt a skirted trolling fishing lure

The following images and text, detail a step by step process of re-skirting a spread of Wahoo Hexajet trolling fishing lures. Please note that the same process can be followed for just about any other skirted trolling lure.

Skirted trolling fishing lures are a very effective product for catching all the pelagic fish species.

Many of today’s most successful skirted lure products are fitted with a colour combination of 2 vinyl octopus skirts. At some point these will likely need replacing. This is particularly true for lures which have been hit by a member of the razor gang, like a wahoo or mackerel.

The following images and text, detail a step by step process of re-skirting a spread of Wahoo Hexajet lures. Please note that the same process can be followed for just about any other skirted trolling lure.

Step 1

Choose the heads to be reskirted and then purchase the skirts in your desired colours ensuring you have the right size skirt to fit each head. If you are unsure of skirt size you can measure the neck diameter (Where the skirts are tied/glued on). of the lure in question and we will be able to recommend a suitable size. Tools and materials required

Once you have your replacement skirts you will need a few basic tools to complete the task;
